"Tales of Triumph" - An Addiction Action Campaign initiative.
South African stories of about 2000 to 3000 words with pictures and diagrams or whatever needed to tell the story.
Why?
To highlight the fact that addiction can be overcome - BUT, also about any number of relevant stories of overcoming the odds where falling back into self-destructive lifestyles were real and attractive options. Like...
- The abused wife or child who could have sought solace in drugs or wanton sex or prostitution.
- The bipolar or depressive or anxiety sufferer who fights a daily war against his/her personal demons.
- The grief-stricken parent overcoming the death of a child and the temptations of suicide, drugs, painkillers despair.
- The teenager who discovers she is HIV+ in a rural village with all the stigma.
- Or the parish priest who suffers a crisis of faith.
- Or the teenager drawn into a cult.
- The business tycoon who gambles away everything.
- The husband/wife who finally faces up to the fact that they're gay or lesbian.
- The person who loses everything and fights back to win back their life from addiction.
